The Peacock Wine Cellar

The Peacock

The Peacock is a wine cellar of about ten square meters. The cellar is lined with one thousand blue glazed terra cotta tiles, each shaped and finished by hand. The tiles are arranged in a triple curved array inspired by the form of a peacock. Each tile holds a wine bottle and carries a small light that illuminates the tile below, so the only other light source is a single spotlight above the central table. The tiles were made by artisans in Jingdezhen, China, using a feather textured blue glaze of the Song Dynasty. Cooling is managed by a smart controller.

The Verdant Syndicate Sustainable Mixed Use Complex

The Verdant Syndicate

The Verdant Syndicate is a mixed use complex developed for a 4,269 square meter former farmland site in Henan, China. Ferrying Compound Bookstore

Ferrying

Ferrying is a compound bookstore set on two floors and covering 1500 square meters. The layout follows the logic of a traditional water town block, where a river connects areas for books, goods and salons. Small bridges, village houses, miniature squares, octagonal pavilions, wooden boats and a pixelated Qilin figure shape the interior. Contemporary elements are added, such as parametric subway train lines, an augmented reality experience and a tea area. Simple local materials keep the construction budget low, including cement self-leveling, terrazzo, clay bricks and granite.

Tiger Club

Tiger

Tiger is a club interior located in the Laoshan District of Qingdao. The design draws on the city, where European buildings stand within an Eastern order. Materials include concrete, steel, glass, light brick, gypsum board, stone panels, marble, stainless steel and wood veneer. Light guides movement from the outer areas to the inner rooms, so that the space is experienced as open and free.

Mirror Bridge Studio

Mirror Bridge

Studio with Mirror Bridge is an office interior created for a design studio in a ground-floor flat in a 1990s residential neighborhood. The original layout was linear and dark, with one small patio. A twisted vortex of mirror polished stainless steel connects the north and south sides and improves lighting, ventilation and scale. The reflective surface spreads daylight through the interior. The vortex narrows in the lounge area and ends as a curved bar. The form also blocks direct views from the entrance to the work area.

Elemental Lounge Living Room and Bar

Elemental Lounge

Elemental Lounge is an interior design for a living room and bar area of 60 square meters. The space is divided graphically into black and white to represent day and night during the equinox, when both last exactly 12 hours. Harmony is achieved through contrasting textures and materials, including wood, iron, fabrics, pottery, fur and precious stones. Furniture, lamps, rugs and fittings were custom made by Peruvian artisans. A hanging lamp of transparent and smoky quartz holds an LED light, and the coffee table contains a large amethyst geode.
