Ethereal Essence
Ethereal Essence is the interior design of a plastic surgery clinic in Taipei, Taiwan. The 260 square meter space draws on Chinese and Japanese Zen influences, using natural materials and earth tones to create a calm atmosphere. High-back screens made of five wood pieces are fixed with hardware clips and can be removed to open the whole space for public events and lectures. Two semi-open rooms use panel curtains instead of solid partitions, so light passes through while privacy is kept. Ink-grained stone slabs meet wood veneer to control cost.
Ethereal Essence Plastic Surgery Clinic by Meng Chen Ho was highlighted as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Ethereal Essence Plastic Surgery Clinic won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
