Yue
Yue is a restaurant interior located in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The design applies the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic, which values modesty and rustic simplicity. Dark-colored surfaces, mellow wooden gratings and large curved forms create a calm and stable atmosphere under a warm glow. Large floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light inside. Partition walls are removed to give open sight lines. The 232 square meter space holds a reception counter, a seating area and private rooms. Hand-applied materials give rustic textures, and wood is combined with metal.
Yue Restaurant by Toby Lin was selected as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Yue Restaurant won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
