Gato
Gato is a commercial interior in Taiwan that combines a shoe exhibition and sale area, a cafe, a bar and a cigar collection within about 112 square meters. The renovation of a forty year old house keeps the original ceiling piping, painted in copper tones, to preserve a sense of height. Rust finishes, hand painted surfaces, solid wood and Italian terrazzo create a vintage atmosphere, while red accents add contrast. A smooth path links the bar, exhibition, lounge and storage areas, and the lighting changes color temperature between day and night.
Gato Commercial Space by Hung-Yuan Hsu has been highlighted as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Gato Commercial Space was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program that recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
