Poro City
Poro City is an exhibition design built from milk crates. The crates form a brick-like system that is neither transparent nor solid, holding the exhibition without a rigid boundary. Undulating porous walls frame views and recall the breeze block surfaces found in Los Angeles. The modular kit of parts is fast to assemble and can adapt to different indoor and outdoor sites. The installation uses 1100 crates of 33 cm by 33 cm by 28 cm within a 200 square meter gallery. Bright colors transform a familiar utilitarian object into a welcoming space.
Poro City Exhibition by Chieh-Ting Chuang has been recognized as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Poro City Exhibition won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
