Ching Ming Kyoto
Ching Ming Kyoto is a Chinese restaurant interior located in a train station building in Kyoto, Japan. The floor area is 110 square meters. Regulations limited the ceiling, so the lighting was suspended and treated as art. Line lights are formed in triangle shapes and connected continuously to surround the seating areas. The ceiling is painted black to emphasize the floating line and ball shaped lights. The walls are covered with oil paintings of old Chinese stories, combined with geometric patterns and graphic floor tiles.
Ching Ming Kyoto Restaurant by Takuji Kamio was highlighted as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Ching Ming Kyoto Restaurant was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program which recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
