Luxeh
Luxeh is a hotel interior located in the West Lake scenic area of Hangzhou, China. The design preserves the original architecture and the building elevation, as required for the protected site. Interior space and outdoor space are treated as two separate systems, so modern resort and commercial functions are placed within a building of historic style. Decayed wooden parts of the elevation are treated with a baking method used since the Song dynasty, which carbonizes the surface and keeps the material intact.
Luxeh Hotel by Ruidong Weng has been recognized as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Luxeh Hotel won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
