Between Light and Corridor
Between Light and Corridor is a residential interior design for a 30-year-old apartment in Taipei City, Taiwan. The home covers about 99 square meters and holds three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a dressing room. An S-shaped curved cabinet stands between the living room and the dining room and separates the two functions. Materials include solid wood grille, oak floor, granite, amber mirror and LED linear lights. Sound insulation foam was installed on the floor to reduce noise from upstairs. A dimmer on the corridor to the bedroom allows different lighting moods.
Between Light and Corridor Residential by Ming Kai Hsu has been identified as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Between Light and Corridor Residential won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize which honors exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
