Island

Island is a hair salon set inside a forty-year-old house of 165 square meters. The renovation avoids elaborate decoration. Recycled decorative logs replace interior walls and act as divider screens, creating a see-through effect, a brighter room and a simple, clear flow. Abundant green foliage and climbing plants fill the space. A gravity-powered watering system based on siphon theory replaces mechanical irrigation, filling eleven tanks evenly and adding the sound of dripping water. The design brings natural elements into an urban setting.

Glistening ceiling designs and lighting elements shape the main spaces. In the lobby, the existing red chevron flooring was retained, while colourful decor items, furniture arrangements and customised soft furnishings inspired by peacocks and butterflies balance the red envelope. Fairy Tale Forest

Fairy Tale Forest is an amenity space of 950 square meters in Taichung, Taiwan. The interior follows a loop layout that makes the narrow area varied and interesting. Arcs of different sizes divide the space by function and form the public art theme. An arc-shaped flower stand of black-grey stone greets people at the entrance. Water features, greenery and animal sculptures create a storybook setting. Multi-layer planting balances humidity and temperature, lets air circulate and brings in sunlight, so the use of air conditioning and lighting is reduced.
